I like Uber. But hell no will I pay 95$ to get home when it cost me $20 to get to the bar. No surge price or anything, the fair was actually that much.

Huh? *confused*
What’s up with the huge difference?

Even the idea of ‘surge charging’ is preposterous.
Granted it’s supply and demand but really, f**k Uber
At least taxis are regulated on prices. Here we have three rates, Day Rate =7am to 10pm in many parts of the U.K., Night Rate =10pm to 7am and Holiday Rate such as Bank Holidays and are a higher rate but not excessively over Night Rate.

That’s just it, we didn’t know why either. The app didn’t even warn us.

Ive learned that before you request the ride, just go back and quit the app and start over. I once got 2.6x surge pricing in NYC, quit the app a couple times and started over and made it down to 1.6x instead. Much more realistic number. I get NYC traffic and all, but I dont use uber to cross the bridge or go through tunnels, so I refuse to pay any more than necessary to get where Im going within the city.
